Jakarta, Indonesia — Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP), the social initiative of the Miss Indonesia Foundation and an integral component of the global Miss World platform, has launched its latest humanitarian project themed "Habis Gelap, Terbitlah Terang" (After Darkness Comes Light). This initiative aims to provide solar energy access to the residents of Letepalolo Village, Kodi District, Southwest Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

For years, Beauty With a Purpose has served as a platform for Miss Indonesia finalists and winners to deliver tangible community impact. Extending beyond physical beauty, BWAP instills values of compassion, empathy, and direct action to address key social issues across Indonesia. Its various initiatives demonstrate that true beauty stems from meaningful contributions to others.

In 2026, BWAP embraces the spirit of R.A. Kartini through the theme "Habis Gelap, Terbitlah Terang", defining light not merely as illumination, but as a symbol of hope, education, safety, opportunity, and a better future for underserved communities.

Letepalolo Village was selected due to its ongoing lack of electricity access. Dozens of households remain off the grid, relying on kerosene lamps and candles for nighttime activities—a condition that directly hinders education, economic productivity, and overall quality of life.

Through this project, BWAP is constructing a community facility equipped with a Solar Power System (PLTS), installing home solar lights, and training villagers to independently operate and maintain the energy infrastructure. The facility will also house the Kartini Library to serve as an educational space for local children. Beyond physical infrastructure, the program delivers educational activities and vocational skills training for the community.
