This spirit forms the foundation of Beauty With a Purpose (BWAP) 2026, a social program by the Miss Indonesia Foundation operating within the global Miss World platform.

This year, BWAP adopts the theme "After Darkness Comes Light," inspired by the pioneering spirit of R.A. Kartini and interpreted as an effort to bring broader illumination to communities living with limited energy access. For years, Beauty With a Purpose has served as a vehicle for Miss Indonesia finalists and winners to go beyond representing Indonesia on the global stage by driving tangible social impact. For BWAP, beauty extends beyond physical appearance; it embodies compassion, the courage to step forward, and concrete actions that serve others.

Bringing Light to Letepalolo

Letepalolo Village was selected as the site for the BWAP 2026 project due to its ongoing electricity access constraints. Dozens of households remain without electrical lighting, leaving residents dependent on oil lamps and candles for nighttime activities. These limitations affect more than basic illumination—they hinder children's education, community productivity, safety, and daily quality of life.

Through the "After Darkness Comes Light" initiative, BWAP is delivering a community facility powered by a Solar Power System (PLTS), installing solar-powered lighting across residential homes, and conducting training sessions to enable local residents to operate and maintain the energy system independently. The community facility will also house the Kartini Library, a dedicated learning space where the children of Letepalolo Village can read, study, and build their ambitions for the future. Beyond physical infrastructure, BWAP incorporates educational activities and vocational training to foster long-term community sustainability.
